The Probus Club of St Neots
Formed on 24th November 1972
“Friendly, Like-minded and Local”
Club Secretary Contact: firstname.lastname@example.org
The club was formed on 24th November 1972 as a service to the community by the Rotary Club of St Neots.
The founder President of the Club was Mr George E Mighall and the inaugural luncheon was held on 3rd January 1973 at the Bridge Hotel, St Neots.
The club is a non-profit making forum for the social intercourse of like-minded retired or semi-retired professionals.
The club meets on the first Wednesday of every month for a luncheon (except In December when this luncheon is replaced with a Christmas lunch), where members have a chance to catch up with colleagues and enjoy good food. The dates and times are shown on the Social Programme accessed at the bottom of this page.
Luncheons are currently held in the St Neots Rugby Football Club, New Street, St Neots PE19 1RU.
In addition the Club holds a number of social functions/outings throughout the year (these have included coach trips, visits to places of interest and local attractions, plus our very popular strawberry tea and hog roast).
There are four special luncheons throughout the year which Associate members and partners can attend. These are The Spring Buffet Lunch, The Anniversary Lunch in early May, the Autumn Buffet Lunch and the Christmas Lunch.
The Club also hosts a coffee morning on the third Wednesday of each month (to which partners are warmly invited) in the St Neots Rugby Club. The dates and times are shown on the Social Programme accessed at the bottom of this page.
Members are expected to attend at least 75% of the monthly luncheons in order to maintain the viability of the event.
Details of the Social Programmes or Events can be accessed by clicking on the relevant link below.
The level of subscription is determined at the AGM and is due for payment by each member on 1stJanuary each year.
There is an Annual General Meeting (AGM), which is held at the second monthly luncheon after the closure of the Annual Accounts, currently this is at the November luncheon.
Four weeks notice will be given of the AGM.
A Special General Meeting (SGM) may be called at the request of the Committee, or on receipt of a written proposal from a member duly proposed and seconded and supported by at least 12 members.
Voting at Meetings is done by a show of hands, unless in exceptional circumstances a ballot is needed.
The Club accounts are checked annually and presented to the AGM each year.
So why join St Neots Probus?
“The St Neots Club is a very friendly group, which has an active social calendar throughout the year, which has something to appeal to both the members and their partners.”
