I am just interested in how many clubs are actually now meeting up face to face. I myself attended the March PC, Cambridgeshire first meeting this week, after being asked to deliver a talk. This went very well and the their club had a very good turn out and all had a very good positve mindset. All commented on how nice it was to see their fellow Probians after some 12 months.

They have guest speakers booked for the rest of the year.

I will be interested to hear too. I know some clubs decided earlier on not to restart until the new year, but I have also heard from clubs that started up again as soon as it was allowed. And I have heard of at least one new club that has members from all over the country and meets only on Zoom. It seems our generation is very resourceful!

Scunthorpe 78 had a reunion lunch 15th July which was quite well attended. Several members were on holiday that week.
We have restarted our weekly meetings and out next lunch is next week 19th July.

Hi – no – you don’t need to do anything thank you, except look after your page. I tend to wait while before installing updates so other people can sort out the glitches!

We have our own Application Form which we would like to put up on the website in a form that people can fill in online and send straight off (i.e. without having to print it etc). Does anyone know how to do this? A further detail is: is there a way of getting an electronic signature?

Hi Derek – you can do this by creating your Word document in the first place. If you send it to me by mail I will put it on the website with a link from your page so people can download it. They should then be able to fill it in and email it back to you. I shall be busy all of tomorrow (Tuesday) morning but am available on Wednesday if you would like to chat it through.
I have not yet mastered electronic signatures myself – they seem to be a string of numbers and letters – so instead I use a scan of my signature and inset it into documents as a picture.

Hi – many thanks for your reply. Yes, I’ve now discovered that I can upload a Word document to the Media Library and then include it from there, so that users can download a copy to fill in.
This has however raised a second question. How do I delete an unwanted item from the Media Library? My application form has undergone several revisions and I want to delete the earlier versions retaining only the most recent one, but I cannot currently see how to do this. Please can you tell me.
Like you I don’t know how to do electronic signatures, but it may not be all that important in the end. This is not a cheque that they are signing!
        Regards
        Derek

I think only I can delete them – is there a way of identifying which you don’t want?

Thanks. Yes, I don’t want one called ‘applicationform.docx’ but I DO want to keep the later one called ‘PurleyProbusApplicationForm.docx’.
In due course I may want to update this one also, but we can cross that bridge when we come to it!
            Regards
            Derek

I have updated the PurleyProbusApplicationForm.docx once and it seems to work OK, so I don’t plan to make any further changes at this stage. Thanks for your help.

    Good Afternoon,

Please allow me to introduce Moor and Daresbury Probus Club based in Cheshire, If you are interested in the writings of Lewis Carroll then Daresbury is a place to visit as his father was the rector of the Daresbury Parish and the local church has a great visitors centre.

We are, at present, an all male club who normally meet twice a month. Once for a social lunch at a Local Pub and the other for a speakers meeting.

We have only recently registered the club on the website and finding it most interesting. We would welcome any visitors if you are in the area, please use the email link on our page to contact us.

We would like to invite any Probus members to these meetings. I have attached our club’s website.

Banchory Men’s Probus Club, Banchory, Aberdeenshire, Scotland
    Hello all
I’ve just recently registered our club with ‘Probusonline’ and am finding my way around the site.
We are a Male Probus Club, founded in 1989, and have 48 members. We have a Ladies Probus Club in the ‘village’ as well, with about the same membership as ours.
We have been ‘virtually’ meeting these past few months. Twice a month, using ‘Zoom’.
In my travels around the site I noticed this ‘chat’ area, with nobody chatting, so I thought I would just say a few words by way of a ‘hello’.
If you ever find yourself in the Banchory area, or even elsewhere, and would like to visit one of our meetings please contact me – you are welcome at any time to sttend one of our ‘virtual’ meetings, as my guest.
    Best regards

Hi Alison, I’ve been out of the site for a wee while. Are you OK for Wednesday? President Ian and I have both sent you e-mails but I think you may not be monotoring the ‘editor’ email address these days – or that, and our e-mails have gone into your ‘Junk’ folder!
Can you advise which e-mail address Ian should send your ‘invite’ to?
If you would like a trial run let me know and we can do that before Wednesday.
Look forward to seing you then
        Regards
        Stan

Is it I, am I in the wrong place, or has the chat line not been active much in recent weeks?
Also, I remember being in another couple of chat areas which I now can’t find my way back to!.

Your advice would be welcome – thank you.
