“GLOBAL PROBUS” Contact: Georgina Rep. for Scotland: NEW !! Weblink to JUNE 2024 newsletter in progress Saving time on sending out email / printouts to members. Zoom Link on meetings/talks sent to those who wish to join-in Last month we held our quarterly online general meeting with attendees from Canada, UK, Australia, South Africa, India, Japan, Florida, Mexico, New Zealand, France, and Belgium. We really feel like a global community now. We have observed a number of clubs combining or folding in recent months as their members age. A few clubs have folded purely because nobody was willing to volunteer their time to join the management team to keep them organized. Let’s not allow that to happen to PROBUS Global.
One of the suggestions at the meeting was to start a virtual PROBUS Club to include members from places that don’t have a local club and Probians who would enjoy occasional virtual meetings by Zoom with a guest speaker or other activities, such as games. The suggestion was met with a lot of approval. But to make it happen, we need a leader and some help. If you are interested in belonging to an online PROBUS club, please raise your (virtual) hand.
Mary Wilson is hard at work editing the June Newsletter. She promises entertaining and edifying articles:
- How one club in the UK has software which automates most club administration and maintains records securely.
- How one Canadian club works with local college students for mutual benefits.
- The pitfalls of new management committees reinventing the wheel.
- Summary of PROBUS Global’s March Zoom meeting.
- How a Canadian Probus member became a Scottish Laird.
