At upcoming monthly meetings, the subjects of our speakers will include Nelson Mandela and The Post Office Horizon Trials.  Other planned activities include a visit to The Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, visits to Glyndebourne, to theatres in Chichester and London and a trip to the home of Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant of the Bloomsbury Group.  Overseas tours coming up are to Berlin, Colditz, Meissen and Dresden and to Istanbul, Ephesus and Troy.

Recent topics at monthly meetings have included The Surrey Space Centre, Iran, The War Graves Commission and The Suffragettes.  Our other activities have included a visit to Grange Park Opera, 3 trips to the Royal Festival Hall, a visit to Bentley Priory, home of RAF Fighter Command in WWII and a behind the scenes view of The All England Club at Wimbledon.  Members have also enjoyed a day at Sandown racing as well as golf days during the Summer months.

The Fairmile Probus Club was established in 1991.  Members come mostly from the Elmbridge area of Surrey (Cobham, Esher, Oxshott and Walton on Thames).  We meet on the third Tuesday of each month at the Drift Golf Club, East Horsley.  We begin at 10.15am with club business, including updates on the activities of the nine sub-groups.  This is followed by coffee and an address from our speaker for the day.  The meeting concludes with a two course lunch, one of which provides a lighter option.

In addition to concert, opera and theatre visits and UK and overseas trips, members participate in bridge, golf on various Surrey courses (e.g Burhill, St. George’s Hill and New Zealand GC), monthly walks followed by a pub lunch, and an informal lunch every Thursday.  A Christmas lunch for members and friends is scheduled for December 2024.
