The club meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 12 noon at Cranleigh Golf & Country Club, Barhatch Lane, Cranleigh, Surrey.

In common with all Probus Clubs throughout the world, Cranleigh & District Probus ‘B’ Club exists to promote fellowship and camaraderie between retired or semi-retired PROfessional and BUSiness persons in Cranleigh and the surrounding villages. The prime means of achieving this aim is via monthly lunch meetings, which frequently feature a guest speaker.

Our meetings begin at 12 noon for pre-lunch drinks, followed by a two-course lunch at 12:30pm. Twice a year in April and December our ladies and widows of past members join us for very enjoyable Ladies Luncheons. Additionally there is a formal Ladies Dinner in the summer.

The Club was founded in 1986 as a spin-off from the original Cranleigh Probus Club, which was renamed as Cranleigh & District Probus ‘A’ Club. Our 65 members are drawn from an eclectic mix of professions ranging from Finance, Insurance, Aviation, Retailing, Local Government, Manufacturing, Medicine, the Armed Forces, Information Technology and Business Consultancy. The age span of our membership is a remarkable 41 years. This together with the broad range of experience usually results in interesting discussions over lunch. The Club is administered by a Committee which is elected each February at the Annual General Meeting.

A busy programme of  Social Activities takes place throughout the year at approximately monthly intervals. These include visits to places of interest and trips to concerts and theatre. These activities have proved so successful that they are now organised on behalf of the other two Probus clubs in the area as well as Probus B.

There is a flourishing Probus Golf Society with membership drawn from the three local Probus clubs which play in competition with other Probus Golf Societies.

For the last 20 years the Club has organised an annual Spring Break to Europe each year. These provide an  excellent opportunity for members and their partners to interact in more  relaxed surroundings than the usual lunches. Destinations have included France, Germany. The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain, Italy and the Channel Islands. In 2018, 45 members, wives and widows of former members spent an enjoyable week on the Rhine. In May 2019 a similar number will be enjoying a week in the Austrian Tyrol.Members are kept up-to-date with details of the Club via a bi-monthly Newsletter.
